At Sage, we know that being a responsible member of the community involves recognizing our impact on the environment and adopting environmentally sustainable practices. We are committed to environmental stewardship and ongoing development of new green initiatives.
Our green initiatives include:
- Sustainable sourcing—One of our largest raw goods vendors, which provides us with cellulose fibers used to make our cloth products, uses wood only from sustainable forest plantations in the United States for production of the fibers.
- Local sourcing—Pollution and energy used during transportation are reduced because we buy from local vendors whenever possible.
- Vertical integration—Energy consumption and pollution due to shipping have been reduced due to bringing most manufacturing processes in house.
- Packaging reduction—Package and label sizes have been reduced on several products to decrease the amount of raw materials and waste.
- Corrugate purchasing—All of our corrugate vendors use a combination of recycled and virgin corrugates with 30 to 100% recycled content.
- Recycling—In addition to recycling over 490,000 pounds of cardboard, paper and shredding each year, we recycle more than 6,300 wood skids per year. Computers and accessories are also recycled in an effort to keep them out of landfills.
